Dolly Parton and "9 to 5"

Who doesn't love Dolly? No one. Therefore, "9 to 5" will be a big hit on Broadway. I was at the first preview, sitting right behind Dolly. She was nervous and enthusiastic, addressing the surprised audience when she suddenly appeared down front to introduce the show. She warned us about possible mechanical failures of the extensive sets, and asked us to remain calm if the show had to be stopped. Three-quarters of the way through, indeed, the sets stopped in mid-turn, the curtain came down, and the show was dead. Dolly jumped up, did a Q&A and then sang "9 to 5" followed by "I Will Always Love you." Again---who doesn't love Dolly.

There's a smash song in the show called "Backwoods Barbie" that Dolly will have out on a single. The two "Wicked" replacement girls, Megan Hilty and Stephanie J. Block in the Dolly and Jane Fonda roles respectively, are sensational. Allison Janney, in the Lily Tomlin role, was perfectly cast, and she will have her Broadway chops by the time the show opens in New York in April. Go see this show for a really good time.

I have no idea what I'm going to say here on this uncensored page. Beware.
